The Dappermarkt fills the Dapperstraat, in the Dapperbuurt area of Amsterdam-Oost, between the Mauritskade and the Wijttenbachstraat. The city made it a market street in 1910, at the same time as the Albert Cuypstraat. Today around 200 stalls sell fresh produce, fish, meat, flowers, plants and household goods, with plenty of Surinamese, Turkish and Moroccan specialities. The market is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and entry is free. It is just a few steps from the Oosterpark and the Wereldmuseum.
Highlights

The Dapperstraat on market day
Stalls line both sides of the street along its entire length. Walk it from one end to the other: fruit and vegetable, fish, clothing and bric-a-brac stands follow one another.

The market banner
A large banner bearing the Dappermarkt's name stretches across the street at the entrance to the rows of stalls. The market runs from the Mauritskade to the Wijttenbachstraat.

The bric-a-brac stalls
Watches, cushions, small appliances: alongside the food, some of the stalls sell everyday goods.
Flavours of Suriname, Turkey and Morocco
Many stalls offer specialities from these countries, a reflection of the Dapperbuurt's multicultural population.
Opening hours and access
Open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Closed on Sundays and official public holidays.

Tips
Come on a weekday if you prefer to browse in peace: Saturday is the busiest day. Not every stall is set up at opening time: after 10am you will find the market in full swing. Bring a little cash as well as your bank card. Combine your visit with a stroll in the Oosterpark, right next door, or with the Wereldmuseum, a few minutes' walk away.
How to get there
Dapperstraat, 1093 BS Amsterdam (Dapperbuurt, Amsterdam-Oost). Tram 14 to the Mauritskade stop (in front of the Wereldmuseum) or Pontanusstraat, a few minutes' walk from the market. By train, Amsterdam Muiderpoort station is five minutes on foot from the eastern end of the market. The nearby Linnaeusstraat is under construction until the end of 2027 and several tram lines are diverted: check your route on the GVB or 9292 journey planner before setting off.
