What you visit
A wooden chapel stood here around 1213 and the stone church was consecrated in 1306: it is the oldest building in Amsterdam. It keeps its wooden vault, medieval stained glass and a floor entirely covered in gravestones, and hosts contemporary art exhibitions. From 13 November 2026 to 7 March 2027 the artist Mire Lee exhibits there; the church closes from 9 to 12 November for the installation. Allow about an hour.
Tower climb and carillon
In 2026 the guided tower climb ran until 31 October (EUR 22, not for under-6s): ask the church for next season's dates. We could not confirm carillon concert times.
Our pick
- You hold a Museumkaart: entry is free.
- You keep all tickets in one app: the Tiqets ticket, checking the date carefully.
- You prefer the listed price: the official site, where the desk takes no cash.
Come on a weekday before noon, when the nave is calm; on Sunday the church opens only at 13:00. The Our Lord in the Attic museum is two minutes' walk away, and the Red Light District around the church has its own rules. Full page: Oude Kerk.
