Zuidas, Zuid or the centre: which to choose?

Zuidas is a modern business district: office towers, little going on after 8 pm and at weekends. Hotels close by have larger rooms than canal houses, with lifts and meeting rooms; weekday prices follow corporate demand and generally ease at weekends and in summer, but it varies: do not count on a fixed rule.

Getting around from Zuidas

Amsterdam Zuid station combines trains (NS), metro (lines 50 and 51) and tram. The ride to Schiphol takes about ten minutes by train, and to Amsterdam Centraal about a quarter of an hour by train or metro. Check real-time schedules on the NS or GVB site on the day you travel. Our getting around Amsterdam guide and the metro and tram map detail the lines.

Eating and going out around Zuidas

The district mainly offers business restaurants and cafés open on weekdays, quieter in the evening. For a real dinner, head to De Pijp a few minutes away or the centre. If you are preparing an off-site meeting, also see meeting rooms in Amsterdam. We quote no room prices: they change every day.
