NS lockers at Central Station

Dutch Railways (NS) runs automated luggage lockers (bagagekluizen) at Amsterdam Central Station. According to the station's official page, they are on the city side: take the exit towards the city centre and turn right, past the NS International sales point, next to the Ibis hotel. The same page says they are open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day; if you collect your bags in the middle of the night, bear in mind that only some of the station entrances stay open.
There are three sizes, all 35 cm wide and 85 cm deep:
- Small locker (45 cm high): €10 for the first 24 hours, then €15 per day on the second and third days.
- Large locker (60 cm high): €16, then €22 per day.
- Extra-large locker, XL (95 cm high): €25, then €35 per day.
It works simply: put your belongings inside, close the door and pay for one day on the screen next to the lockers. The printed receipt is your key: scan it to open the locker again, but the locker only opens once. If you need to take something out, you will have to pay for a new rental. If you lose the receipt, NS charges €15.
Rental is limited to three consecutive days. After that, NS may empty the locker: your belongings are kept for up to three months, but getting them back costs €100 for administration, storage and shipping. For arriving by train and the station's other services, see our guide to getting to Amsterdam by train.
Amsterdam Sloterdijk, Amstel and Zuid
NS also has lockers at Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Amsterdam Amstel, cheaper than at Centraal: €8 for the first 24 hours for a small locker and €10 for a large one, then €10 and €13 per day on the second and third days. At Sloterdijk you pay contactless with a debit or credit card. The official list of stations with NS lockers does not include Amsterdam Zuid: if you arrive there, leave your bags at your hotel or with a partner shop (see below).
Baggage storage at Schiphol Airport

The airport offers two options, aimed at different travellers:
- Baggage Storage at Arrivals, on level -1, in the public area between Arrivals 1 and Arrivals 2. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and keeps luggage for up to 30 days. Expect to pay €7 per day for a piece of hand luggage (55 x 35 x 25 cm maximum), €9.50 for checked baggage and €12 for odd-sized baggage, per item. You pay by debit or credit card.
- Lockers after security, in the transfer area, including on Holland Boulevard (towards gates D, E, F, G and H): €8.50 per locker, for up to 7 days. They measure 40 x 40 cm and are 70 cm deep, enough for a backpack, a laptop bag or a small cabin trolley, and you can only reach them once you have cleared security, so they mostly serve transfer passengers.
The Arrivals storage is useful for a long layover or if you are coming back to catch a flight a few days later. For a day in the city, leaving your bags at Central Station saves you carrying them around: the journey between the airport and the centre is explained in our guide Schiphol Airport to central Amsterdam.
Lockerpoint private lockers
Lockerpoint runs two automated luggage stores open 24 hours a day, inside Q-Park car parks:
- Amsterdam Centraal: Prins Hendrikkade 20A, on level -2 of the car park, a few steps from the station exit.
- Museumplein: Van Baerlestraat 33B, with a glass entrance next to the Van Gogh Museum and another on Van Baerlestraat, near the Concertgebouw.
Prices are the same at both: €7 per 24 hours for an M locker (30 x 35 x 60 cm), €9 for an L (50 x 33.5 x 78 cm) and €11 for an XL (86 x 35 x 60 cm). You book online on the day itself or pay on site by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay; cash is not accepted. At the Museumplein, Lockerpoint says you can open your locker at any time during the rental, unlike the NS lockers. Be careful: a locker booked online and opened but not used within 15 minutes is released with no refund.
Bounce, Stasher, Radical Storage: storage at local shops
Several platforms connect travellers with businesses (souvenir shops, hotels, bike rental shops) that keep luggage behind their counter. Three of them operate in Amsterdam in 2026:
- Bounce: from €1.95 per bag per day, with €10,000 protection per booking.
- Stasher: from €1.49 per bag per day, with a €12,000 guarantee per booking.
- Radical Storage: from €1.90 per bag per day; near Central Station, the price shown was €3.90.
These are starting prices: the actual rate depends on the drop-off point and is shown before you book. You book on the website or app, show the confirmation at the counter, then collect your bags during the shop's opening hours. That is the thing to check before booking: a drop-off point that closes at 6pm is no good for an evening train or flight. The advantage is coverage: there are drop-off points near the museums, the Red Light District and Amsterdam Zuid, where there are no lockers.
Your hotel, the free option
Most hotels store their guests' luggage for free before check-in and after check-out, in a locked luggage room or behind reception. Ask when you book, especially at small hotels, B&Bs and rental apartments, which do not always have a reception desk. If you are still choosing an area, our guide on where to stay in Amsterdam points out those close to Central Station and Schiphol.
Museums: no suitcases

The major museums do not accept suitcases and have no room to store them: drop your luggage off before your visit.
- Rijksmuseum: only handbags of A4 size or smaller are allowed in the galleries. The free, supervised cloakroom takes backpacks and umbrellas, but not suitcases or large travel bags. The museum itself points visitors to the Lockerpoint on the Museumplein, less than five minutes' walk away.
- Van Gogh Museum: objects larger than 45 x 25 x 25 cm are not allowed, and travel luggage of any size cannot be left in the cloakroom.
- Anne Frank House: only bags smaller than an A4 sheet are allowed inside. The free cloakroom takes coats, bags and pushchairs, but there is no room for large bags, backpacks or suitcases: the museum warns that visitors with luggage may be refused entry.
On your departure day
- Check out in the morning and leave your bags at the hotel if your train or flight leaves in the evening: it is free and saves you two trips to the station.
- Work out the real cost: for two large suitcases, two large NS lockers cost €32, a single XL locker €25, and an L locker at Lockerpoint €9.
- Keep your documents, medication and valuables with you: no left-luggage service replaces your hand luggage.
- Allow extra time to collect your belongings, especially if the drop-off point is far from the station. To get to the airport with several suitcases, our guide to taxis and Uber in Amsterdam compares prices and pick-up points.
