Ways to visit

What you see

  • A listed park: designed for its first phases by architect Leonard Springer, with wide tree-lined avenues and lawns between the plots.
  • A Resistance memorial: it commemorates eighteen executed resistance fighters and is the work of Hildo Krop. Combine it with the Resistance Museum.
  • Remembrance gardens: urns, columbaria and an Islamic cemetery designed by contemporary architects.

We could not confirm a list of famous graves from an official source; ask for the map at reception or see the "notable graves" section of the website.

Good to know

  • On 1 November 2026, from 12:00 to 17:00, the cemetery holds "Tuin voor Alle Zielen", a day of remembrance for the relatives of the deceased: avoid sightseeing there that day.
  • Plan public transport with a journey planner (9292 or GVB) to the Kruislaan stop; no tram is guaranteed here, so check on the day.
  • For other quiet places in the city, read Amsterdam off the beaten track; the neighbouring park is the Oosterpark.
