Heineken Experience Amsterdam: tickets, prices, how long it takes and review

Updated on October 1, 2026

The Heineken Experience fills the former Heineken brewery on Stadhouderskade, in the De Pijp neighbourhood, where beer was brewed from 1867 to 1988. The self-guided tour runs over four floors: the brand's history, the stages of brewing, interactive rooms, then a beer served at the Best 'Dam Bar. Allow about 1.5 to 2 hours. Entry is for over-18s only, even with an adult, and tickets start at €24.95 (prices checked in October 2026). The site is a few minutes' walk from Museumplein and the Rijksmuseum.

Highlights

The brew room

The large copper kettles of the old brewery are still in place, beneath stained-glass windows and glazed tiled walls. It is the most authentic part of the tour: it shows where the beer was made before production moved to a larger site in 1988.

The brewery building

The brick facade, bearing the words "Heineken Brouwerij", towers over Stadhouderskade and the canal running alongside it. The building is listed, which is why wheelchair access is only partial.

The rooftop

The Heineken Tour + Rooftop ticket (€29.95) adds access to the rooftop bar, reached by lift, with views over the canal ring. It includes two drinks in total, one during the tour and one on the roof. The rooftop bar opens from 12:00 to 19:00, until 20:30 on Fridays and Saturdays.

Other options

The VIP Tour (€65, about 2.5 hours) goes through areas closed to the public, with a guide and a tasting of five beers paired with Dutch bites. Combi tickets pair the visit with a canal cruise: the Flagship Cruise (60-minute guided cruise from the Museumbrug, near the Rijksmuseum) and Rock the City (45-minute cruise plus entry to A'DAM Lookout).

Tips

Book online: each ticket is for a fixed entry time slot, and only a limited number of tickets are sold at the door. You can move a ticket to another slot up to one hour before your visit through the ticket office's online self-service. The €24.95 Heineken Tour includes one beer at the end; a non-alcoholic drink can replace it (prices checked in October 2026). Bring ID: you may be asked for it at the entrance to prove you are 18. Inside, only contactless cards are accepted, not cash. The free cloakroom takes bags up to 32 × 25.5 × 49 cm; suitcases are refused, but a private left-luggage service (Lockerpoint) is at Marie Heinekenplein 12. The tour itself is in English, and audio guides are available in several other languages, including Dutch, German and French. The Heineken Flagship Store can be visited without a ticket.
