A'DAM Lookout Amsterdam: 360° views, the swing and tickets

Updated on October 1, 2026

A'DAM Lookout occupies the 20th and 21st floors of the A'DAM Tower, IJpromenade 4 (1031 KT Amsterdam), on the north bank of the IJ, opposite Central Station. At 100 metres up, its deck gives a 360° view over the historic centre, the port and the polders, and the "Over the Edge" swing tips visitors out over the drop from the roof. Open daily from 10:00 to 22:00 (last entry 21:00); an adult ticket costs €16.50 online. The tower was completed in 1971 to a design by architect Arthur Staal for the Shell company, under the name Toren Overhoeks; converted, it reopened in 2016 with offices, restaurants and nightlife venues. You reach it in a few minutes on the free ferry that leaves from behind Central Station.

Highlights

The open-air Skydeck on the roof runs all the way round the tower at 100 metres: historic centre and canals, Central Station, the port and the polder landscape. On the 20th floor, an observation room glazed from floor to ceiling, with binoculars, lets you enjoy the view even in bad weather.

Set on the roof, it carries up to two people at a time beyond the edge of the tower, 100 metres above the ground, for about one minute. Supplement of €7.50 online (€8.50 on site); minimum height 1.20 m, and not recommended for people with heart conditions, high blood pressure, pregnant women or anyone afraid of heights. Photos and a video taken in daylight can be downloaded free of charge.

From the top you can follow the ferries shuttling between Central Station and Amsterdam-Noord, with the [EYE Filmmuseum](/fr/attractions/eye-filmmuseum) at the foot of the tower. A free audio tour of about 30 minutes describes the sights you can see from the deck.

Restaurants and bars

On the 20th floor, Restaurant MADAM (Dutch classics with a twist, for lunch and dinner) and the MADAM Skybar (cocktails, DJs in the evening) are for visitors with a Lookout ticket. On the 19th floor, the revolving Restaurant Moon serves dinner, and a table booking includes access to the Skydeck. A partly covered open-air bar sits on the roof.
