This is Holland is a flight simulation attraction housed in a round, dark-clad building at Overhoeksplein 51 (1031 KS Amsterdam), in Amsterdam-Noord, at the foot of the A'DAM Tower and next to the EYE Filmmuseum. Sitting in a moving seat, you fly over the Netherlands for 9 minutes: tulip fields, windmills, canals, coastlines and flood defences. Wind, mist and scents accompany the film. A visit takes about one hour and comes in four parts: two introductory shows, the flight, then the Holland Lounge. It is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00; tickets start at €22. You get there in a few minutes on the free ferry that leaves from behind Central Station.
Highlights

The building on Overhoeksplein
The attraction fills a grey rotunda with faceted walls, topped by the words "This is Holland", on the square between the A'DAM Tower and the former brick Shell laboratory. The EYE Filmmuseum stands just behind it, on the bank of the IJ.
The 9-minute flight
Your seat moves with the images, the wind blows and lighting and scent effects make the flight feel more real. The route takes you over tulip fields and windmills, canals, the coastline and the country's great water-management works. Children under 4 and anyone shorter than 1 metre cannot take part.
The two introductory shows
The first tells how the country came into being and how the Dutch have worked with water and wind for centuries. The second, a video projection, introduces the places you will fly over next. The shows are in Dutch with English subtitles; a free translation app for iOS and Android covers other languages.
The Holland Lounge
After the flight, this area lets you read about the sights you flew over and watch "The Making Of", a documentary about the filming. Pepper's ghost display cases present the Netherlands' water-management structures.
