House of Bols Amsterdam (Bols Cocktail Experience): tickets, hours and visit

Updated on October 15, 2026

The House of Bols, now called the Bols Cocktail Experience, is the museum of the Bols liqueur and genever brand, at Paulus Potterstraat 14, a short walk from the Museumplein and the Rijksmuseum. The visit lasts about an hour: you learn the history of Bols, the aromas of its liqueurs and the art of the cocktail, then enjoy a cocktail at the Mirror Bar. Entry costs €19.50 (price checked in October 2026), audio guide in 8 languages included. It is for ages 18 and over only, and ID may be requested at the entrance.

Highlights

Aromas and liqueurs

Aromas and liqueurs

The visit opens with a sensory tour of the Bols liqueurs: pump bottles to smell the aromas, colours and ingredients. It is the most playful part, explaining how the same spirit becomes an orange, coffee or fruit liqueur.

The tour ends at the Mirror Bar, where you collect the cocktail included in your ticket, prepared by the bartenders behind a long metal counter.

The story of genever

One room is devoted to genever, the Dutch spirit that is the ancestor of gin, and to the history of the House of Bols, founded in Amsterdam in 1575.

Workshops and packages

Besides the basic ticket, Bols offers cocktail workshops (from €34.50), combination tickets (from €32.50), a one-day bartending course (€99) and private events (from €45).

Practical info

Tips

  • Book a time slot online on the Bols website or through an entrance ticket offer: you can arrive up to 60 minutes after the chosen time. Bring photo ID: the visit is closed to under-18s, even with an adult. Only one cocktail is included in the ticket. Combine the visit with the Museumplein and the Heineken Experience, a few minutes away, but not on the same day if you want to stay sober. For an evening out, our guide to Amsterdam at night suggests more places.
